I have eaten at Charlie's Chicken for years and I have reviewed other Charlie's Chicken restaurants before. I have to say that without a doubt, this is by far the best I have ever had. My girlfriend and I went in a few days ago for lunch. We were almost turned away seeing the huge line but decided to go in anyway. Luckily, the line moved incredibly quickly due to the large number of staff working to keep things moving. I had a Chicken Fried Steak meal with Mashed Potatoes and my girlfriend had a 3 Chunk meal. My Chicken Fried Steak was actually some of the most tender Chicken Fried Steak I have ever eaten. I was really surprised to be able to cut into it with just my fork. All of the sides were also very good and tasted fresh. I don't know if the mashed potatoes are real potatoes or from a box, but just the fact that I can't tell is impressive. Our meal total was less than $15 and included drinks for us both. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were working hard to make sure everyone got a quick lunch. After some of my less than stellar experiences at other Charlie's locations, this really redeemed the franchise for me.

Sorry, but Cane's, Slim Chickens, and any other place in the BA Poultry District (Lynn Lane between 61st and 71st) can't hold a candle to the delicious pollo over at Charlie's. It's so tender and has the perfect amount of seasoning. I love the side dishes, especially okra and the corn doodlybobbers. Rolls are above average and honey is abundant. The people who work here are kind, and they don't even get annoyed when I ask for corn doodlybobbers (which isn't exactly what they call them on the menu board). BONUS: free soft serve ice cream. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go get a two chunk meal with mashed potatoes and corn doodlybobbers.

I've eaten at Charlie's Chicken too many times in the fifteen years they've been at this location. It's been one of my cheap go-to spots for comfort food. Sometimes it's been pretty bad... Sometimes it's been great. My favorite things here are pretty standard- 1) Chicken Chunks: generally superior and large balls of chicken battered and fried. They're pretty much the standard here. Only downside... Size can vary greatly. Sometimes they can be a little dry, as if they were leftovers from the day before. 2) Wedges: I love these. As a potato connoisseur, they're up there. Cooked in the same batter (I think) as the chicken chunks, too. 3) Chicken Fried Steak: As a child growing up in the 90's, school lunch had one supreme delicacy in Broken Arrow... The chicken fried steak (usually served on Fridays, perhaps to jog your memory). Well, Charlie's one-ups this dish, which I know sounds like not much. But it's pretty great. 4) Corn Dodgers: not sure what these are really supposed to be called. I've heard corn nuggets and dodgers and balls... Whatever. Spoonful of corn in a shell of batter- deep fried. I don't think another place does them better. ...and, in my experience, everything else on the menu is forgettable. So, while they can sometimes nail those four things- the rest isn't usually worth your consideration. And further, it's a risk: don't go here before noon. Ever. Before noon, it feels like you're getting yesterday's lifeless leftovers. But, when you're getting fresh food, Charlie's delivers where I've indicated. Enjoy!

Some of the best fried chicken chucks I've had. Tasty, big servings of chicken breast perfectly fried and seasoned, served with several traditional southern sides, such as corn on the cob, mac and cheese, green beans, fried okra, etc. The cobblers are all great as well.

Great chicken place that has the kids favorite the chicken chunk. Traditional favorites from sides to fried chicken. A good value.
